Our work with L Brands shows that diversity & inclusion is an ongoing process

By Hailey Stangebye

There was a time when diversity and inclusion efforts were about perfection. The goal was to show that your company beautifully executes diversity and inclusion initiatives. Rah rah! We’re great. Here’s why.

But this approach is inherently flawed. Why? Because, frankly, nobody is perfect. No company is perfect. And no diversity and inclusion initiative is perfect. When you try to paint a perfect face on your diversity and inclusion efforts, the result is a facade. Today’s workforce is savvy. They see right through the illusion.

That’s why, when we began ideation for a diversity and inclusion video with L Brands, we knew that we needed to find an authentic representation of their company culture. Their workers wanted honesty, integrity and transparency. Don’t we all?

“We wanted to show how much they already genuinely care about supporting all of the talented people in their workforce, while simultaneously showcasing that they have a concrete vision for the future of diversity and inclusion.”

“With this D&I video for L Brands, we wanted to show people, internally and externally, that L Brands is taking steps to improve diversity and inclusion in the workplace,” says Yohannan Terrell, CEO of Warhol & WALL ST. “We wanted to show how much they already genuinely care about supporting all of the talented people in their workforce, while simultaneously showcasing that they have a concrete vision for the future of diversity and inclusion. This isn’t a stagnant video. It’s a conversation about the next steps for their company.”
